Mom and I made it back home just fine tonight, but neither one of us really wanted to leave.....we had the time of our lives! Here is a sneak peek of our weekend, and I will post more pics and the stories that go with them over the next few days. Thank you, Lora and Charlie for sharing your home and your love with us! I love you both!

My beautiful babies....

Is this the picture of "love", or what?
James, always the entertainer!!!!

James just loves his "wheels on the bus" book, and it's a special treat when Grams is here to read it!

Paw-paw took us out to lunch today, and James was the usual center of attention!

How I LOVE this face!!!!

Today was a big day, as usual for a Thursday. Grams was here, and we went OUT for lunch, and then Grams stayed with James while I took Beryl's Mom to the doctor. Poor Grams.......he slept almost the whole time!!! LOL. But they made up for lost time when he woke up! He was in the KISSIEST mood this afternoon, and has begun to do the sound effects when giving kisses. It is TOO sweet! Mom and I are going to Oklahoma to see my sweet Lora, and we are both so excited! I'm sure I'll have lots of pics to post when I get home! You all have a great weekend, and I'll meet you here again soon. God Bless!

Tonights Poem:

Jewel
Fame can't beguile me-
Of riches I need no part;
But the child-of-my-child
Is the gem-of-my-heart!

"my first visit to school"

When will they let me in to learn my "guzzinta's"? (1 guzzinta 1 one time...., etc.)
Let's hope he's ALWAYS this excited to go to school!!!!

"Here we go 'round the tetherball post"

Until my little legs are strong enough for a soccer ball, my tigger ball will be good practice!

This morning we were blessed with overcast skies, much cooler temps, and a soft breeze, so after breakfast I took my love bug across the street to the school playground to play kickball. SILLY ME!!!!.........All the new territories to explore were MUCH more fun!!! We did get to swing for a little while, but then we were off to the races! LOL. He was in his element discovering a whole new world that we've been watching from the front porch this summer. He absolutely ran BOTH our sets of legs off, but I had the time of my life watching him. He had to inspect everything, and even had a few of the teachers watching him out the windows. But he just couldn't understand why I wouldn't take him inside.........he would bang on the windows and holler and then look at me like "where are all the kids?" We had a fabulous time, and when we finally came home, he had a cup of juice, and then took a good long nap. He woke up just as lunch was ready, and ate a bunch of baked chicken, but would have NOTHING to do with the baked potato or the green beans! The boy is seriously addicted to MEAT. Especially chicken. He used to eat anything and everything, but no more. Now we have to sneak his veggies into other foods that he likes, and thank goodness he really likes V-8 juice! I'm a determined Gammo, and he WILL get some veggies in his tummy! LOL. He has his 15 month check-up this afternoon, and I am anxious to hear about his progress. I'll let you know! For now, I must go, but never forget how much I love each of you! God Bless!

tough day

I've been feeling mopey all day today, thoughts and memories running through my head, and just can't seem to shake it. Yesterday my little man turned 15 months old, and it just doesn't seem possible. And then, it was 5 years ago today that we lost our princess, Tracey. I've thought of her so very often since James was born............she just loved babies, and would have been absolutely thrilled beyond measure to be a big sister again. I can just picture her and James together, and we think he's spoiled NOW! She would have been the worst culprit of all of us!!!! I miss her so much, and can still hear her voice and her laughter ringing in the rafters.
She found a special little nook in my heart the first time we met, and will live there forever. I love you, sweet girl, and can't wait to see you again.

Every day gets better.....

Lovin' those fish-n-chips!
Chicken is his favorite thing to eat right now.

My, how he's changed in just a short time!

This weekend Beryl and I were shopping in a second hand store, (LOVE THOSE!), and I came across a book called "Call me Grandma". It is full of the most beautiful little poems about being a grandma, and I had to have it! The sweet little old man just gave it to me after watching me read through it, and wiping tears from my eyes. The author was from Kansas, and is gone from this earth now, but I've no doubt she left her family knowing how much she loved them.
What a gift she had for words, and I will be sharing some of her writing with you from time to time. Her name was Nova Trimble Ashley, and I will be looking for more of her books! I hope her words touch your heart as much as they have touched mine.

Somebody Loveable

Somebody loveable
Precious and sweet,
With soft dimpled fingers
And kissable feet,
Somebody beautiful
Helpless and wee
Made a most doting
Grandmother of me!

And with that, dear friends, I must leave you for tonight, and rest up for another day of Heaven on earth with my very busy little man. Let me hear from you all, and don't forget the 3 most precious words to your loved ones ears: I LOVE YOU.

Ahoy, Matie!!!

AAAAARRRRGGGGG!!!!
My two beautiful babies!

Goofy Girls.

Having WAY too much fun!

Like Mother, Like Daughter, and PROUD of it!!!

Did you hear the one about the parrot and the one-eyed woman that walked
into a Long John Silvers??????

Well, the big day is over, and thanks be to God, everything went well, and Mom is feeling fine. Tired, but fine. As I told you, we planned on a pirate theme to mark the occasion, and we had a ball!! The people who work there loved it, as well as some of the other customers. Then we went to Cindy's house and Mom rested for a bit, and James explored new territories. He was getting so tired, so he and his Mommy went home for a nap, except..........it never happened! So this evening they came to my house for a dip in his baby pool, and then off he went again, all over the yard, in a wet swimming suit that got FILTHY! LOL. The poor little guy was getting beside himself tired, so we came in and fed him supper, and gave him a bath, and then back home to (hopefully) get a good nights sleep. He was SO tired as they drove out the drive, he just had that deer in the headlights look. But we made some sweet memories, and that's what it's all about, right? The only problem is.........NOW what do we do for the next one????? LOL.
So thank you all again for your prayers and phone calls, I am certainly BLESSED WITH THE BEST!!!!! Love to all, and God Bless You!!

My precious Mama.....

Mom goes in tomorrow morning for her first cateract surgery, and is quite apprehensive about it. She is ready to see the world again, but is still a bit nervous. We've known for some time that this needs to be done, but as usual, she was always putting others before herself, and has been putting it off. A few days after Daddy passed away, my little sister and her family invited Mom to go out on the lake with them on their boat. Mom really enjoyed it, but made the comment to me that the kids kept telling her....."Grandma, look at that", and would point at something.......
and she had no idea what they were seeing! I immediately had "the talk" with her about needing to get her eyes taken care of........after all, she IS still driving, and needs to be as safe as possible.
So she made the appt., and I took her in for her consultation, and now here we are, ready for the big day. In another 2 to 4 weeks, she will have the other one done, and then, her surgeon has put in a request with her insurance to have her eyelids "done". With age, the folds in her eyelids have drooped to the point that she can only open her eyes about half way. After all this is done, he said she will see things in a whole new way!
But if I may.........I ask for your prayers. Mom seems to have a history with having a bit of trouble with anesthesia, and has scared the puddin' out of us before. I know that she is strong and healthy, and she's a little scrapper, but the bottom line is that she is in God's hands, and I just pray that His will is for her to be just fine. Thank you in advance, and I will post again tomorrow night and give you an update.
Now, on the lighter side of the story: Mom and my sweet daughter Heather have a VERY close relationship, and every time her Grams has had a surgery, Heather has always sent her a stuffed animal. So this time, she had the brilliant idea to get a parrot for her Grams, to go with the whole eye patch after surgery thing. I thought it was hysterical, and so we just took the ball and ran with it. Heather went to a party supply store and bought pirate eye patches for all of us to wear tomorrow, and we are going to take her to Long John Silvers for lunch afterwards. (if she feels up to it, of course). And I've been trying my darndest to get James to say "Aaarrrgggghh".
He tries, which cracks me up, and I just hope we can get him to do it tomorrow. I'll have my camera with me, so I'll be able to share some pictures! Then Mom is going to spend the night tomorrow with my little sister, and then she will take Mom back in on Friday for her post-op
check. So, I will be busy and/or otherwise distracted for a day or two, but I promise to be back soon. Thank you again for your prayers, and remember to hug the ones you love..............
See you here again soon! God Bless You All!

About Me

My heart is filled with faith in God, and love for my family and friends. I am in love with a fabulous man who shares in my joy of being the mother of H, and the grandma of J.

I never get enough of my little love bug!
If there must be strife, let it be in MY day, that this child may know peace.
