G-pa's Dream Truck

"Victory" Red
2008 Chevey Silverado LTZ! For those of you who don't know, G-pa B is self employed, working in the oil fields as an oil pumper. VERY hard work, and very demanding......needless to say, he is hard on his work trucks, and recently decided it was time for an up-grade. He always has a "back up" truck to use in case of a breakdown, and then when he needs a new work truck, he takes the back up for a work truck, and gets a new back up. Does that make sense? LOL.
ANYWAY, he recently took his back up truck for work, which meant finding a new backup. After looking at what seemed like every car lot in the county for a good used one, he decided (with much encouragement from me) to just get a brand new one. He had'nt had a brand new one in almost 30 years, so I honestly felt like he deserved it. WELL, you know the old saying "boys and their toys"!! He is SO thrilled and proud of his new truck, and can't WAIT to take his little "Cooter" (that's his nickname for J) out in it. I have a sneaky feeling we will be looking at new carseats so he can have one of his own in the truck without having to go thru the hassle of switching mine out of my car!! And we need to put some running boards on it, because my short legs can hardly make it up and in!! LOL. But I am so happy for him, and so proud of doing something for himself..............he takes SUCH wonderful care of us, and always puts us before his own wants and needs. We are so blessed to have him, and I tell him so EVERY day.

On a side note: it was 12 years ago today that he was severly burned in a natural gas explosion while working. He was burned from the waist up, and had to be grafted on both arms and hands. We nearly lost him twice during the whole ordeal, but he's a fighter, and God obviously had other plans for him, thankfully. His recovery was long and painful, but he did everything in exactly half the time the Dr.s expected, including going back to work in just 5 months. He amazed us all, including his medical team, and to this day, I thank God from the bottom of my heart that he survived. I love you, B!!!!!

Oh my gosh! It's 12 years already? Hardly seems like it. We will never forget that day, and the things we discovered about our individual strength, and our strength as a family team. You credit Dad for such an amazing recovery, but we all know he would not have done what he did without you. The two of you amaze me! You two are living examples of the principle of "the whole is greater than the sum of its parts."

I love you.

About Me

My heart is filled with faith in God, and love for my family and friends. I am in love with a fabulous man who shares in my joy of being the mother of H, and the grandma of J.

I never get enough of my little love bug!
If there must be strife, let it be in MY day, that this child may know peace.
